SportsMates' deal with the National Lacross League's Chicago Shamrox was noted in the Movers & Shakers column of the February 4, 2007 edition of the Marin Independent Journal Business section:

SportsMates Inc., a Novato-based Internet network for sports fans, said it will operate the official online community for the Chicago Shamrox of the National Lacrosse League. SportsMates was founded by Novato residents Blair Cummins and Richard Austin.
